There is an Anchor road just opposite the Great Northern that leads to the canal.

I remember going to the canal as a child via the lane from Milnhay Road. When you came to the bridge over the canal, before going up to Bailey Grove Road, there was a pink? painted house. I seem to remember being told that it used to be a pub. Was that the Anchor Inn ?
