Milnhay House and Edstone House
replied on: 9/28/2005 5:16:27 PM Yes, they're gone, but certainly Milnhay House was around till at least the 1960's albeit derelict. (I think Edstone went earlier than that, but I may be wrong.) The wall between Milnhay House and Milnhay Road has only recently been demolished. Certainly, at one time Edstone House was occupied by Mr Lovatt, of the pottery. Prior to him, I believe it was William Smith's (of the flour mill). In the 1890's Milnhay House was occupied by Henry Smith (son of William). Any old photos of these buildings would be appreciated. I have one of Milnhay House (which I am saving for a new page on the main site), but I don't think I have one of Edstone. |
