Well, as far as I know it was He Who Would Valiant Be - I'll have to check the Jerusalem theory though. Perhaps the school hymn changed at some stage?

Certainly Valiant was the hymn sung at the unveiling of the War Memorial in 1923.

I was thinking of that as the title for the book.
