Tanner rush
replied on: 2/12/2006 6:09:17 AM

I remember Saturday matinees at the Heanor Empire we called it the Tanner Rush I am not sure but I believe that a Tanner was sixpence? Here I watched Capt America and also The Dam Busters etc.

I remember that we used to get cartoons followed by the feature film and on one occasion I saw The Brooke Bond Tea Chimps performing on the stage in between the films.

Now of course we would not tolerate people exploiting animals in this way however it did not ever occur to me that it was cruel when I was a child.

I have not lived in England for 36 years so please forgive me if my memory is a little rusty.

Ian
