Tanner rush
replied on: 2/12/2006 10:34:23 PM The big feller with the rolled up newspaper went by the name of Joe. His vocabulary consisted of two words. 'BE QUIET' He wasn't the manager, although when a big production film was shown in the evening, he would be regaled in a bottle green suit with gold braiding, and a matching peaked cap. I think he got it second-hand from Hitler. Sometimes prior to the threepenny rush cartoon starting, they would have a short talent competition, with the odd brave tap-dancing girl enduring the cat-calls of the plebs in the audience. Does anyone recall such stars as Lash La Rue (no relation to Danny), Brick Bradford, Charlie Chase, The Three Stooges etc? And how about the lads' fantasy figure, the buxom 'Nyoka of the Jungle' Phew !! I sweat just thinking about her. |
