I can't remember when it stopped either. However, it was in the 60's that I can recall having to recite the number to the grocer before he would take my mums grocery list from me. This was at Codnor Denby Lane when the co-op travelling shops came round. I was quite small and can remember that the counter was much bigger than me. Probably mid-60's that I am thinking about. It was a bit of a test rewarded with praise.’ suppose that’s why it is still printed in my memory.
