Shops in Langley Mill

Russ/Paul

Can I just confirm that the chip shop was in the very large wooden garage, towards the bottom end of Ebenezer Street, which later became the garage of Harold Morgan the plumber (who lived in quite a large house on the street)? I never knew that!

I remember the Morgan's quite well. My brother was apprenticed to Mr Morgan for a short while (before giving up plumbing!), and I also remember them taking over the old Co-op Painting and Decorating shop, now the Indian Restaurnat, which they set up as a DIY shop. They definitely had the shop no later than 1981, as I remember spending a lot of time in there, having just bought my first house. Guess where - Ebenezer Street!
