Inn the Middle

Forgive me for sounding like a "grumpy old man," but what are the morons playing at???

Driving through Langley Mill this morning, I notice that there is a new pub. Well, it looks just like an old pub I remember and it is in exactly the same location, but I don't recognise the name "Inn the Middle."

Just what do these marketing prats think they are going to achieve? For the next 20 or 30 years, all the locals are still going to call it the Erewash Hotel. And how many non-locals are likely to visit more than once.

To be fair, the renovation looks good from the outside (I will pay a visit during the summer), but the change of name was totally unnecessary. It's only a couple of hundred year's of heritage thrown down the drain!

I must stress that all my posts, but especially this one, express my views, and not necessarily the views of the History Society.
