replied on: 7/27/2006 3:36:27 PM Please excuse me if this rambles on a bit, night shift etc. The main source of information on this matter is the UK Coal Authority at, http://www.coal.gov.uk The application form for the the search of mining activity is in pdf format. The address for the form is, http://www.coal.gov.uk/media/C6765/ScotForm%2020041.pdf I would imagine that the cost of a search would run into £100s but it may be cheaper. It is possible to view records at the HQ, located in Berry Hill, Mansfield. Information is held going back donkeys years. If it has been capable of being preserved then it has been kept safely. It is possible to view records at the HQ. The procedures are explained somewhere on the Coal Authority site. I.ve not been on Ashforth Avenue for some time. From my paper round days for Billy Robinson, I seem to remember the avenuue dipping down at the end with some small bungalows right at the end. Unfortunately work calls so I must close now. Good Hunting. regards Phil |
