Passenger traffic did stop in 1963 but freight ran for a while after. I distinctly recall a steam loco in the station there seen from the top of a bus when i could have been no older than 3.

It remained derelict until about 1970 and was then cleared away. In 1974 the bypass was built though it didnt come as far as the station site then.
