Heanor St. Lawrence - Empty Tomb, etc
replied on: 9/6/2006 11:59:16 PM

Hi, I recently visited this church, where in 1977 I had come across my ancestors tombstone propped up against a wall along with many others. It was in perfect condition with the lettering deeply carved and easy to read - I was thrilled to have stumbled across it by accident. Now there is absolutely no trace whatsoever of this tombstone and I was quite disgusted to see how what tombstones were left were hidden, neglected and just placed anywhere. As you say no respect. Thank goodness Memorial Inscriptions have been done by the DFHS.
I too needed to get this off my chest!!!
