New Inn, Smalley Common
replied on: 9/20/2006 1:02:50 PM

Can anyone help me with the history of this pub?

I am putting together a web page on Smalley pubs, using the chapter from 'Smalley Remembered' as a basis, but the New Inn is not included.I have some of the landlords -

1881 Directory and census - William Bednall
1888 Directory & 1891 cenus - David Hartley
1895 Directory - William Hartley
1912 Directory - Samuel Allen

There is also a possible from a 1857 Directory, John Hewitt, farmer & beer seller (Common)

Also, am I right in thinking that Smalley Common later became Stanley Common?
