replied on: 9/22/2006 12:27:32 AM The Gazette 18 jan 1940 "We cull from the Daily herald the following war story, sent by Mr P Foster of 37 Wright St Codnor. Just an extract from a letter written by my cousin in France: "And four of us are billeted with the most lovely old lady you can imagine. She told us, however, that none of us would ever compare with a soldier of the last war, and proudly took us into the front room to show us his photograph.It was, believe it or not, my own dad. Was I proud?" |
