Thanks Phil for all your interesting information.I think the Weston's Walter,Matilda & Frank may have been a different family but Robert could have been Grandma's brother.Your info on the New Inn sounds good because I remember this in the 40's before it was re-named later as the Knife and Steel, this was the pub on the right going towards Four-Lane ends, which has now been converted back to a dwelling.I have said on a previous post that the original Knife and Steel is shown in a photograph on the Horsley Woodhouse web site,it's position being in The Crescent, not in Main Street,as I have been led to believe, the New Inn seem's more likely to be the one that I'm looking for.
I do remember the Mrs.M.Kyte.(Maggie)Fried Fish Dealer who you mention her chip shop which is still there was directly opposite the site of my Grandparents house Cavell Cottage, with Grandmothers factory around the back.
Many Thanks
PAULR
