Smith family of Heanor
replied on: 1/17/2007 3:50:12 AM Hi, I'm trying to trace the history of Mary Ann Smith who MIGHT be my GGG Grandmother. I found an online listing for St Lawrence Church that had a baptism 28 March 1813 - mother Sarah, father illegitimate. A Mary/Mary Ann of the correct age and place of birth went on to marry Joseph Bentley. All census from 1841 show them living at Yardley, Worcestershire/Warwickshire. I have not been able to locate: birth of Mary/Mary Ann, marriage of Mary and Joseph (stop laughing), birth of their 3 older children. I have purchased a birth cert for their dau Sophia showing Mary Bentley formerly Smith. This is the only record that indicates her maiden name. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I will be eternally grateful. Also if anyone can provide info on Mary's mother Sarah. Hope to hear from someone soon! Thanks. |
