Can you Remember
replied on: 4/17/2007 12:52:33 AM The parlour was also the place where a deceased member of the family "lay in state" in the coffin awaiting the funeral!...and being allowed in there for the viewing of the body before he/she was "screwed down" I found the parlour very spooky. I also remember it as being a place where adults went to talk in whispers about things which children had no business knowing ... but I did like the smell of the Johnsons Lavender Wax furniture polish which wafted out of there every Friday. |
