Queens Head
replied on: 7/18/2007 11:09:17 PM

Have a look on the picture the past site (link on society link page)and put Marlpool in to the search box. The only image that shows the Queens Head is an image of the pond. The pub is in the left of centre background with the roofline and upper walls visible. Not the best of views but a starter for 10 hopefully.

From Bulmer's Directory 1895 John Henry Winfield, Queen's Head, 1 Breach Road in the list of Marlpool Public Houses. He is also listed as a beer retailer in a different list for Marlpool. In an 1850 directory there is listed a Boam William, beer retailer, Marlpool. No address given but maybe same place as Queen's Head prior to building work.

regards Phil
