14th July 1911 R/ H,
Local Colliery Managers Puzzled
Experts and a Heanor Accident
“Hang-Fire Shots”
A remarkable accident recently occurred at Ormonde Colliery, Loscoe, in which a deputy had his foot blown off by a high explosive. It appears that the detonator had ignited the explosive, detonating pressure resulting in the explosive burning in the hole until sufficient force had been gathered to blow out the stemming.
(Part of the report)

I have two reports for this accident but it just refers to the “deputy” no names.
Jenny
