THE BUTCHERS ARMS -Hands Road
replied on: 11/23/2007 9:16:57 PM

well hello every one!!

I am Peter Thextons daughter. affraid i cannot shed any light on the history of the Butchers arms before around 1976 (WHEN I WAS BORN SHHHH)

anyway, the memories i have of the place is when we lived upstairs (first floor) there was a door, a door i was not allowed to go through on my own. When i was with my mum and dad sometimes we went through the door, there was a stair case it was dark and gloomy up there and all i can remember is an old iron bed!!! i know that is not of much help but it is one of my memories :o)

I must of been down in the cellar, but i have no memories of this, we left the pub when i was 7.

I do remember we had a window where kids could come and buy pop, sweets and crisps without coming into the bars.

I do have many more personal memories of the place about the animals we had, do any of you remember the geese?? or the 2 german shepards?
