I've seen a related article to this one in the Derby Mercury, will have to see if I can find it.

It has a wonderful quote from Frederick Corfield saying that it proved how good the new foundations were that the church had survived the collapse of the wall.

With retrospect we are able to look at it and say - hmmm South west corner, yep, that's exactly were the structural engineer said the worst subsidence was occuring and pulling the rest of the church down with it.
