Does anyone know whether reports of trials of Conscientious Objectors appeared during the First World War? I don't think I have ever seen one.

The query I have received is as follows:

"My grandfather William Ewart Barker (date of birth 21st September 1887) of Heanor was court martialled as a concientious objector on 6th May 1916 at Budbrooke Barracks, Warwick.

He was arrested on or around the 12th April 1916 and brought before a magistrates court in Heanor on 12th April 1916.

Would this have been reported in the local press at the time do you think?"
