there was no garden party at Elmsfield House in 1908 or 1909, Mr John Holbrook was buying a house in 1909

Property market Mr Sydney Watson, Heanor, offered for sale by public auction, at the Nags Head Hotel Heanor, on Monday evening, several properties. A freehold dwelling-house known as "The Delves" with garden, outbuildings etc, 60, Thorpes Road Heanor (gross annual retal £7.16s), and comprising an area of 300 square yards, was knocked down to Mr John Holbrook for £94. Three freehold messuages, 28,30,and 32, Thorpes Rd Heanor with gardens (gross annual rental £26.17s.4d.) were withdrawn at £301, but was subsequently purchased by Mr. Robt Saxton (Heanor) for £301.10s. Messrs Huish and Robinson,Heanor and Ilkeston, were the acting solicitors.
