Codnor Hall
replied on: 7/20/2008 11:35:50 PM

One of my great grandfathers brothers Luke Gill was on the 1891 census aged 18 living at Cross Hill, working for a Miss Margaret Woolley as a Groom / Gardener. By 1901 he was a Farmer living at Codnor Hall.
The questions are:- Was Codnor Hall as grand as it sounds, and is it still there? I can't find any reference to it.
How would he have leaped up the social ladder that quickly?
