Closure of Langley Mill Police Station
replied on: 7/4/2003 8:09:43 PM

My mother was friends with a girl who lived at Langley Mill police station late 1920s -early 1930s and they used to play in the cells (whether they were still in use occasionally i do not know). I recall the police on their rounds at night in the 50s-one policeman walked through Aldercar and Langley Mill, trying every shop door on his way. He sent his report in that all was well by using various phone boxes along the route. We also used to be reprimanded by him if we had no lights on our bicycles!
