William Amott and Ann Bancroft ?
replied on: 8/11/2003 4:52:55 PM Thanks Peter for your help, the marriage certificate shows their ages as 26 and 25 which ties in with the 1830-35 birthdates from the census. Their son Robert was born in Worcestershire, his son in Kent and my father in London so it is a nomadic family. It looks like I will be making a trip to Heanor in the near future for the census information. |

William Amott and Ann Bancroft ?
replied on: 8/9/2003 8:41:22 AM Dave You need to look initially at the 1851-1861 census for Heanor (a)To find the two individual families (b)To find William and Ann after marriage. Heanor Library holds this census material if you are close at hand or The Derbyshire Local Studies Library Derby. Please bear in mind after marriage they could have moved to another area. The 1881 Census only reveals 1 William Amott and Ann both born around 1830 to 1835 he born at Papplewick Notts And Ann born at Denby The family residing at Denby. |

William Amott and Ann Bancroft ?
replied on: 8/8/2003 4:33:14 PM Hello there I'm trying to research my family tree but I seem to have reached a bit of a dead end. On Boxing Day in 1856 my G-G-Grandfather William Amott married Ann Bancroft at the Parish Church in Heanor.I think it's Bancroft as the last two letters of the surname are not too clear. The marriage certificate shows they were both residents of Heanor and my G-G-G- Grandfathers name as James. William Martin and Phoebe Taylor were the witnesses. I wonder if anyone could help with information, or where I should go to research them further. Many thanks Dave Amott. |
