replied on: 4/17/2007 2:34:46 PM Welcome back Robin, I passed Letitia's photo on to Tony, that you had sent me; in fact you may have been in contact with him in the past. If you still need his address, I can send it, or you could contact Bob. We are still looking for Letitia's burial place! |

replied on: 4/16/2007 2:05:38 PM Apologies for the delay - been working away for the past 6 months or so. Letitia MEE was my Great Grandmother on my mothers side of the family. She married Festus DAY (b 03/12/1863 in Horsley Woodhouse) on 13/03/1894 in Smalley. I have a fair bit of information so if you can let me have your email address I will forward more details across to you including any relevant photographs. Robin |

replied on: 5/9/2006 9:44:31 AM Hi Tony, nice to see you here! Re Letitia, it was Robin Turton who sent me the photo of her, so if he is still on this forum maybe he can help with some more details. Are you there Robin? San & other Slack searchers, I have a Slack/Carrington link on my Carrington data base. Winifred Slack, b.1897, married Ernest Arthur Carrington; they were the parents of my 'cousin' Mary. She lives in Heanor and I have referred to her before. If anyone wants more detail about this Slack connection, I'm sure she will have something. |

replied on: 9/17/2005 8:37:33 PM Also found at Ashover, All Sts. Parish Church Burials - George Birks, died 16/01/1850, age 71. Residence: Codnor Park Parish. This further's the question I asked in the topic, Heanor/Ashover connections? Could some of the families from Ashover have gone over to the Heanor area? I know some from my own family moved to Ashover from Yorkshire to work in the mines, and my Great-Grandmother was born there, but that was in the mid-1800's. Also found on this site, in Quaker marriages, Bunting's of Matlock - Living at Buntingfield, Ashover. San |

replied on: 9/17/2005 4:25:52 PM Thanks, San. As soon as i'm clear, i'll give it a try. I tried the Ashover Historical Site, but only located one other Wragg - Jane?, who died in 1800. For anyone searching that one particular surname, then the Ashover Site is the one for them. Dozens of 'em. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 9/17/2005 4:16:57 PM Azzabuv, This may be of interest. Enter Ashover, Derbyshire, then go on the link, Derbyshire Geneology Webring. This gives the opportunity to link sites together. Found the following in 1851 Census, Ashover: Location - 13 Hazlehurst James Wragg, age 74, born at Matlock - Farmer of 71 Acres, employing 7 labourers. Wife, Jane Wragg, age 72 Son, James Wragg, age 39 |

replied on: 9/17/2005 1:01:49 PM Azzabuv, Glad to see you all back! I was beginning to think I was a sole survivor! I haven't any more info regarding those at Ashover, other than the names in my tree, but there is a site on Ashover (similar to your own History Site) that gives some records. San |

replied on: 9/17/2005 12:54:06 PM San, regarding Samuel Wragg, of Ashover, who married Elizabeth Han(n?)cock, of Eyam, in 30/03/1752. Have you any further information concerning any of their descendants in the Ashover area? R.E. Your own search. Perhaps it would be best to enter a specific couple of names or so at a time, (asabove) concerning who, when and where. It would make the searching for information easier. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 9/13/2005 9:38:42 PM Correction to Sarah Slack. Obviously she was not 'nee Fletcher' as her name was Slack! She was the daughter of Thomas and Eliza Slack. I am almost sure I have come across Slack and Carrington unions too. |

replied on: 9/13/2005 12:45:41 PM Due to over-taxing my brain entering the last message I completely forgot the main reason behind contacting you in the first place! In the 1881 census there are two Carrington's lodging with my ancestor, Hannah Willmott Wood, (nee Skerritt) age 65, who was born at Swanwick, Deryshire. Her husband was George Willmott Wood who is not entered on the census. Willmott, Wood, and Skerritt are all Heanor surnames. Hannah's daughter-in-law, Sarah Slack (nee Fletcher) was a direct descendant of Slack's at Heanor. Therefore there is a good possibility that the Carrington Lodgers are also somehow connected to that area. They are listed as: Robert Carrington, Coal Miner, age 21, Born at Marehay, Derbyshire. Lucy Carrington, age 22, Born at Ripley. San |
