I'm hoping to get to Ripley library sometime soon and have a look through the archives, see if I can find a photograph or something.

I can remember seeing a photograph of her as the carnival queen when I was a kid, she was on a sort of bus which had no top or sides, with a great long cape and a crown on her head.

Be lovely to see it again.

I remember Langley Mill Carnival on the Cricket Ground (later it was called Langley Mill Fete and Gala.
My mother played in Langley Mill Carnival Band in the 1930's.

My Grandmother ... Marion SOAR ... was Heanor Carnival Queen, sometime before WW2 I think. Does anyone know if there would be any archived photographs of such an event in a library or somewhere? I have had a look on this website,
http://www.picturethepast.org.uk/ and it has some real good photos on, but none of my gran or of a carnival Im afraid.

I remember seeing a photograph of her with a crown and everything sitting on an old bus which had had its top and sides cut off.

Love to hear from anyone who remembers this event.
