I remember going to the church on Holbrook street during the 1960's and knew him from there. His sister Doris lived on Ebenezer Street at Langley Mill 1990's/2000's. I also remember he had a daughter and granddaughter (I think.)

Robert I attended a funeral service in the chapel in July last year- the burial did not take place in the cemetery but elsewhere

There are two separate chapels within the same structure.

When it was opened, one half of it was approved by the Bishop, the other by the Government. Somewhere I have the original documents for it being set up.

The CofE chapel is still set up as a chapel, though rarely used. The non-conformist side was used as our Heritage Centre for a number of years, but is now just used for admin and storage.

That's great Robert...so in a nutshell, that onebuilding was split into a C of E and non-conformist chapel?

They are the Marlpool Cemetery Chapels (notice the plural) - one was C.ofE., the other non-conformist. Nothing more than that!

The answer is somewhere on here, but there is also a fair bit on the main website, on the Heritage Centre page, which gives a potted history. Again, the modern photos on there were taken by me - use them if you like.

The astute amongst you will have noticed that I have added a photograph on the main website churches & chapels page, of a place of worship which has never been mentioned here, not even in the full summary.

I refer to the Christadelphian Hall on Derby Road at Heanor.

Does anyone know anything about this?
