Other Lions in Heanor

Having put that request in, I thought I ought to check the back copies of the newsletters of the Society.

Although there is no information to help this enquirer, there is another Heanor lion story......

During a visit to Heanor of Messrs. Bostock and Wombwell's Menagerie, in 1910 or 1911, a boy named Arthur Moore, aged around 10, from Loscoe Road, Heanor, was mauled by a lion. Arthur got under the guard rail and went up to the lion's cage, which was on Heanor Market, and teased the lion, which grabbed him through the bars of the cage. The boy managed to get free, but had severe lacerations on his back.

Okay - the challenge is.... does anyone else have a Heanor lion story?
