Hi, thanks for the reply

The Barratts site is about 100m along Upper Dunstead Road on the left hand side as you're walking away from the church. We moved in on the last bank holiday weekend.

I had a brief look at the HeanorHistory website the other day but was quite busy at the time so will have another peek later on today.

The Norman castle thing is fascinating. My girlfriend and I walked down Aldercar Lane the other evening - went past Aldercar Hall and Park Farm but turned back just before the fork where the right turn goes to the pub. Is the castle past the pub, or do we turn left at the fork?
