Taking a closer look, Albert Angell is holding a conductor's baton, so I think your suggestion of a choir is looking good.

I take it you've seen all the other entries about the Angell family on here (both in Langley Mill families and in the Family History Topics). It was because of those that I originally scanned this photo, but I am hoping that the other names will also get some discussions going.
