Thanks Sue,

Unfortunately not my Henry Bundy, but both originate from the same area so may a possible lead to relatives.

It seems that my Henry Bundy has changed his name to Davis by this time, as to why I have no idea.

Sue

PS I recently visited Marlpool Cemetery and the groundsman? there was most helpful in locating other members of my family in the records. I would like to give him a huge thanks.

Have just read the above posting, Thank-you very much this is indeed the information I have been looking for.

I am very grateful to yourself and all the contributors who have supplied me with some very interesting info. I should indeed like to thank the person who took the trouble to provide the burial listing.

An email I've received reads:

"I've been looking at the burials for Heanor this week:
8847 Henry Levis Bundy Fruiter 74yrs, died at 10 North St Langley Mill, buried 23rd Sept 1930, grave no 5208, 1 int."

Susan, if you want to contact me I'll put you in touch with the sender.

Wow, thanks everyone for your help. You,ve all given me a lot of useful info.

I still cannot trace Henry Lewis Bundy's final resting place. Roger Hellings transcripts seem to only go up as far as 1909. There are quite a few children though, many not making it past childhood. My Great-mother gave birth to something like 14 children, and lived to 84!

Never-the-less I shall soldier on, and failing all else will visit Marlpool Cemetery.

Notes I took a couple of months ago after a conversation with someone at the Heritage Centre:

"Walter Mayne's cobblers on North Street was previously (during WWII) a sweet shop, run by a member of the Davis family. Another member of the family, Harry, kept a florist/greengrocers around the corner on Station Road."

It's amazing how seemingly useless bits of information later fit in somewhere. Hope it is of use.

The actual cemetery records are kept at the cemetery in large leather bound books. These are all hand written. To view it is necessary
to make an appointment to go and see them through the Cemeteries Officer at Amber Valley Borough Council. The records list everyone Headstone or not.I found my Grandmother buried 1936 and Grandfather 1945
both no headstone but a plot number.

Heanor Marlpool Cemetery Records - Davis & Bundy
replied on: 10/22/2004 2:46:56 PM

I am currently researching my family history and would be very grateful if anybody could be of assistance. I believe that my great-grandfather is buried in Marlpool Cemetery, his name was Henry Lewis Bundy. Unfortunately I don't know when he died but he moved to Langley Mill around 1902.

Is anyone out there in possession of any burial records for around this time, or know of any resource that I could access on-line? This would be of great help as I am not local to the area.

All the info I have at present is there were two halves of the family, Bundy and Davis and that they owned a shop on North Street in Langley Mill in the first half of the 20th Century, I suppose this is too far back for anyone to have any recollections. But any help on this matter would be great.
