Don't have further info on that-but my Dad used to tell the tale about going to the circus at Langley Mill in 1930's-but he said the circus was held on the "croft"-I think the correct name may have been Parliament Square-piece of land opp shops next to Smiths Flour Mill. Dad used to tell the tale of how the lion tamer would put his head in the lion's mouth-and the lion didn't have any teeth!
There also used to be a travelling theatre company visit every year-one production he saw was "Maria Martin and the Red Barn"-he used to roll with laughing when telling these tales-some too rude to mention on this site!!!!
