Ilike the idea of having Chapels as a topic. I used to go to The Methodist Chapel on Cromford Rd. The preacher was Albert Teagle, he had grown up daughters, Freda, Audrey and Christine I think. Mr Teagle had so much trouble controlling us, he would shout 'Please! please!' when we were creating mayhem. I think he lived on Bank Street or one of the streets that were nearby. Sunday school Trips were to Wicksteed Park or Skeg. The Sunday school anniversary was the highlight of the year with all the girls wearing flocked nylon dresses with sticky out underskirts and white ankle socks with their collection money tucked inside. The boys would be Brylcreemed to within an inch of their lives.
Mrs Carter was the pianist and Marion Williamson was sort of chief Sunday school teacher for the little ones.
