Although I haven't lived in Heanor for 30 years, I used to be on the committee of Heanor Town. They were in the Midland League in the 1920's before falling on hard times, and rejoined in about 1962, along with a lot of other local sides. I went to the Carlisle United FA Cup game - the attendance on the Town Ground was over 6,000 and Heanor scored first before losing 1-5 ! The club borrowed some temporary stands from Derbyshire County Cricket club, and what with the cost of this, and CArlisle's hotel bill, not much money was made out of their big day!
