replied on: 12/7/2004 12:28:41 PM maybe it has been moved-R Mee will tell you. Langley Mill has the postal address Notts-although most of it is in Derbys-for census returns in comes under Heanor Derbys. administration. I was born at Langley Mill-and always refer to it as being in Notts. That's what comes of living on the border! |

replied on: 12/7/2004 9:40:44 AM Thanks Sue..the strange thing is that on the 1901 census it says that he was born in Notts Langley Hill, but I guess it must be a misprint!.... This is a strange site...my original message headed Henry West seems to have disappeared!! |

replied on: 12/6/2004 6:17:10 PM Glad you found this site-I replied to you on Ancestry-maybe this should be on Family History section. I can't help at moment with past-but in 1940's-60's a family of West's lived on Cromford Rd Langley Mill-I know there was a son Peter who would be in his 60's now-may be of interest. The West's were a "Langley Mill"family |

replied on: 12/6/2004 3:49:55 PM I am trying to find out more about my Great Grandfather Henry West, born 1848/1850 in Langley Mill. The 1881 census shows him married to Fanny Harrop (born 1850 in Eccleshall Bierlow) and living in Ashton-u-Lyne Lancashire, with the 1st three of their 6 children: Fred born 1875, Clara born 1877 and Harry born 1879. They then moved to Mossley, Lancashire where their other 3 children were born : Annie born 1881,Herbert (my grandfather) born 1884 and Sarah born 1889. I would be grateful of any leads. Thanks, Jenny Kellock |
