Thorpehill Farm and House - 1891 Census
replied on: 2/23/2005 4:47:18 PM I'll have to disagree with you, Azzabuv (though I think I know what you're saying). The "original" Marlpool was on Ilkeston Road, near the juntion with Breach Road. The Marl Pool, from which the village got its name. But I accept that Marlpool had very little prior to the 20th century development, and suspect that Thorpehill Farm was very important in its immediate area. |
