My own deduction would be that his Homestead was situated on the flattish ground behind the American Adventure Park. Someway past the bottom of the rough surfaced lane leading down from the Hall site today.

Did Ulf change his name so as not to cause concern to his neighbours.
Generally, such a name as Ulf would have had the letter W as its beginning - Wulf. But in Viking names, the name Wulf had its original Root meaning as being connected to the Devil and all manner of Left-Hand ways. So, on foggy Xmas nights - WHO is it really does ride his horse past Shipley Pond and and up the Hall lane.
