Ulf's Shipley

I can't remember one anywhere round the top of the hill, but there was/is one where i picked for his homestead.

In later years, as manpower numbers grew, it did become fashionable to defend a likely hilltop, but pre-(W)Ulf's days and in quite a lot of cases around his time period, people, especially in a forested area like Shipley was, tended to locate themselves in a secluded clearing, or dale away from a hilltop. In that way, any smoke from their fires was fairly well concealed and didn't give their position away as being on top of a hill would have done. But, as manpower numbers grew, might became right on any hilltop.
