HARRISON, C E Private 4116 01/07/1916 0 Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) United Kingdom II. G. 2. GOMMECOURT WOOD NEW CEMETERY, FONCQUEVILLERS LANGLEY MILL SOLDIER KILLED JULY 28TH 1916 Official news came to hand on Saturday that Private .C. E. Harrison, of Langley Mill, had made the great sacrifice, and the utmost local sympathy is extended to Mrs Harrison, who, with her two little girls, resides at no 3 Queen St. Pte Harrison volunteered his services twelve months ago last March, and became attached to the Sherwood Foresters. He was first stationed at Belton Park, and afterwards at Nottingham, arranging out the duties as cook to the company. He left this country for France on his 30th birthday, the 11th day of March last. Previous to enlistment the deceased was engaged at the Brinsley Colliery, where he was highly respected. He was an active worker in connection with the primitive Church at Langley Mill, carrying out duties as a Sunday School Teacher, and also being a member of the church choir. |
