1947 - Longest Winter - Deepest Snow

I remember the school milk freezing and the silver tops being lifted off the bottle by two inches of frozen "top" of the milk-but it was all lined up by the "hot pipes"(radiators) so it thawed out in time for the morning break! We drank the warm half curdled milk without complaining- I'm sure health regs would soon put a stop to that nowadays!
