Thanks, Robert-brain cells clicked in! I suppose "west" is the key word locating the areas!

No, they're next to each other. At the bottom of Derby Road, you're at West Valley. As you go up Derby Road it turned into West Hill/Tag Hill

So-West Hill and West Valley are at "opposite" ends of Heanor.

I think West Valley is the bottom of Derby Road (West Hill), which fits in with the Roscoe's Post Office, which was near the junction with Mount Street.

Anyone know where West Valley was?
Kellys 1881 lists many businesses at West Valley heanor-Sarah Agnes Roscoe Post Office, Mrs Shaw Coffee Rooms, William Prince Shoe manufacturer-also a Girls' School is listed there-to name but a few.
1881 census just gives the address of the Post Office as Heanor, following on is Derby Road, West Hill and Tag Hill
