The census returns for both 1861 and 1871 show that the licensee was Henry Fulwood, born around 1831 at Ilkeston. His wife was Hannah, born at Codnor around 1829.

By 1881 John Bagguley, who was also a miner, had taken over.

In 1891 the licensee was George Mycroft. Mycroft was still there in 1913, but a new landlord started the following year.
