I wonder if The Crystal Palace was only licensed to sell beer (no spirits)? In Kellys there is a section for Public Houses (which names pub and innkeeper) and a section for beerhouse keepers which just lists the keepers name.Usually the Beerhouses were off licences, but by finding the keepers name on census returns I have found occasionally the name of the Beerhouse to be a pub-which was only licensed to sell beer.I'll have to put my Sherlock Holmes hat on!!!
