Sparrow Row
replied on: 5/8/2005 8:53:52 AM

I lived on Milnhay Road 1937-1960 and cannot recall any thatched cottages or Sparrow Row However there was a row of cottages on The
Edstone house side at the top of Elnor Street
and another Row on the same side at the Bailey Brook end.Seaching the 1881 census
The Enumerator seems to have left Laceyfields Road and moved onto Langley Mill road(Assume MILNHAY)and there are 6 entries
before he moves onto Derby Road(assume now to be Station Road)as follows
1 William Smith Cornmiller
2 Thomas Baseley Railwayman
3 Hannah Smith Widow
4 Henry Slater Coal Miner
5 Samuel Eyre Coal Miner(Born Mill Hay 1830)
6 Elizabeth Bestwick Widow
