Kings Head?
replied on: 5/25/2005 11:40:24 PM

Well spotted Azzabuv. In that case I'd hazard a guess, and its no more than that at this time, that it was the King of Prussia (the Market Hotel).

I say that because the reference in the newsletter is to a public meeting to be held in the Kings Head. I have seen other references (quite a lot in fact) to public meetings, prior to the creation of any form of council, being held at the King of Prussia. The King of Prussia was also next to the church, and, traditionally, notices of public meetings would be posted on the church door.

Not so sure that the Kings Head in 1901 would have been the King of Prussia though - this topic certainly needs some more work doing on it.
