The finding re the Winter Gardens at the Anchor Inn is fascinating - I wonder what they had there? The Anchor is one of the pubs I have had most trouble finding details of - even finding it in censuses has been difficult, as it is in Nottinghamshire (so Eastwood's returns) and because it stands a bit isolated, so finding which enumeration district it is in has been very hit and miss - I think I've only come across it in one census year.

As for the Engineering Works - this could be a subject on its own right. I've got a plan of the original site on Cromford Road, when it was up for sale in the 1880's and propose doing some work on this in the future.

Pickersgill & Frost set up in Langley Mill, I think, when Turners moved from the Star Foundry to the Vulcan Works - the cutting will probably refer to P & F.
