Gas Buses
replied on: 6/7/2005 3:23:59 PM A quick search makes the car registered in London. I may delve deeper when I have more time to spend on the subject. regards Phil |

Gas Buses
replied on: 6/6/2005 5:19:54 PM Its not thought to be a local picture - though there's no reason why it couldn't be! My first thought, before I found out that it was from a national collection, was that it could be Parliament Street in Nottingham, but it could be absolutely anywhere. London is a good possiblity. I have seen a local photo of a Barton's bus with gas balloon. |

Gas Buses
replied on: 6/1/2005 5:05:15 PM I've seen a picture of (I think) a Barton's bus powered this way - the only time I've come across it. |

Gas Buses
replied on: 6/1/2005 3:35:03 PM When fuel was short in the early forties, buses used to tow a trailer in which something was burning, to produce gas to drive the bus. Anyone remember them.? They used to make a stink. Also some cars had gas bags on the top almost like a large air bed. |
