The then Sough Lane was just below Stanley, running West. The cottages were across and a shade below 'Stanley Kilbourne Colliery'. The lane then headed South towards 'Hagg Farms', then turning right, led to the 'Dale Abbey' public house.
In other words, it was in the middle of nowhere.
