Interested in where you fit into the Broughs. I am linked to this family. It is very difficult to piece together as they used the same names more than once in a generaton and the families were quite large.

Always interested in another link.

I can't find any marriages on Phillimore's for Heanor for Thomas Brough but it only goes up to 1837.

My 3x's G/Grandfather is Thomas Brough B: c1803 Heanor. I have him married to a Catherine on several census records. He later married an Eliza - also on census records. I have recently found some info that has him married to a Mary. I have no knowledge of this.

Anyone able to document ( or any other info) - would be greatful.

If the marriage of THOMAS BROUGH-Eliza Potter Mar 1874 Belper is your Thomas' 2nd marriage (as we suspect) it may be worth sending for marriage cert-you should get his fathers name from that. Maybe jENNIEPEG will find details of thst marriage?

although it says Belper, its in the Belper district this covers a lot of places and loads of churches! so it would be better to order the certificate.

My only Brough "connection" is not really a pleasant one -Thomas henry Brough (omnibus proprietor) of Burnthouse road was the driver of the car which accidentally knocked my Great Uncle frank off his pedal cycle as he cycled home from work in 1934 Uncle frank died almost instantly. It must have been a terrible time for Mr Brough too-he sold his bus company a couple of years after that.I have the newspaprer report if of any interest to you.
I also knew a brough family from Queen st langley Mill-they had one son Peter-Mr Brough was an Inspector for the MGO bus company (1950's, 60's)- they were a lovely family
